Seattle Reign FC Defeats Racing Louisville FC 2–1 Behind Second-Half Winner

Seattle Reign FC used a composed second-half performance to secure a 2–1 victory over Racing Louisville FC on March 28, capitalizing on key chances and closing out the match with disciplined defending.

After a balanced first half, the Reign found the decisive goal after the break and held off late pressure from Louisville to earn all three points.

First Half: Teams Trade Chances

Both sides entered the match with attacking intent, creating early opportunities and testing each other’s defensive shape.

Seattle generated pressure through possession and movement in the final third, while Racing Louisville looked dangerous in transition. Despite promising sequences from both teams, neither side was able to fully take control early.

The breakthrough eventually came as the teams exchanged goals, sending the match into halftime level.

Second Half: Reign Find the Edge

Seattle came out of the break with greater control, improving their organization in midfield and creating more consistent attacking sequences.

That shift led to the go-ahead goal, as the Reign capitalized on a key opportunity in the second half to take a 2–1 lead. The play developed through sustained pressure, forcing Louisville’s defense into a difficult position.

With the lead, Seattle focused on managing the tempo and limiting space.

Closing Minutes: Defense Holds

Racing Louisville pushed forward in search of an equalizer, committing numbers into the attack during the final stretch.

Seattle’s defense responded by staying compact and organized, limiting clear chances and forcing Louisville into difficult looks in the final third.

Despite late pressure, the Reign maintained control and saw out the result.
