Toronto FC and the Philadelphia Union combined for six goals in a 3-3 draw on April 22, with both sides exchanging momentum and answering every punch in a match that never settled.
Bernardeschi Leads Toronto’s Early Surge
Toronto struck first through Federico Bernardeschi in the 11th minute, giving the home side an early edge.
Philadelphia responded quickly, with Daniel Gazdag converting from the penalty spot in the 24th minute to level the match. Toronto regained the lead just before halftime when Deandre Kerr found the net in the 45th minute, sending the hosts into the break ahead 2-1.
Union Flip the Match After Halftime
Philadelphia came out of the break with urgency.
Julián Carranza equalized in the 48th minute, and just minutes later, Gazdag struck again in the 52nd, giving the Union their first lead of the match at 3-2. The quick turnaround flipped the momentum and put Toronto on the back foot.
Insigne Equalizes as Points Are Shared
Toronto refused to let the match slip away.
Lorenzo Insigne leveled the match in the 70th minute, finishing off a key attacking sequence to bring the score to 3-3. Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither was able to find the decisive goal.
After a match full of swings, the points were split.
