If St. Louis CITY SC has been searching for a complete performance this season, Saturday night might’ve been the closest thing yet.

After a back-and-forth first half, CITY pulled away late to secure a 3–1 win over the New England Revolution at CITYPARK, using a blend of opportunistic finishing and second-half control to lock down all three points.

And once the breakthrough came, the energy in the building felt inevitable.

Early Trade of Blows Sets the Tone

New England struck first, with Ilay Feingold opening the scoring in the 14th minute, quieting the home crowd and putting CITY on the back foot early.

But St. Louis didn’t take long to respond.

Simon Becher leveled the match in the 29th minute, finishing off a key attacking sequence that reignited the tempo and brought CITY back into control. From there, the match opened up, with both sides pushing forward and testing each other defensively.

Right before halftime, CITY found its edge.

Chris Durkin buried a stoppage-time goal (45’+3) to give St. Louis a 2–1 lead heading into the break, flipping the momentum completely.

CITY Tightens the Grip in the Second Half

With the lead in hand, St. Louis shifted from chasing the game to controlling it.

The second half saw CITY manage possession more effectively, limit New England’s chances, and dictate the pace. While the Revolution searched for an equalizer, clear opportunities were hard to come by against a more organized St. Louis side.

As the clock ticked down, CITY stayed patient — and then delivered the dagger.

Hartel Seals It in Style

In the 83rd minute, Marcel Hartel put the match away with a standout finish, capping off the night with a goal that gave CITY breathing room and sent the crowd into full celebration mode.

At 3–1, the result was effectively sealed.
