FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo split the points in a tightly contested 1–1 draw on March 22, with both sides trading goals and defensive stretches in a match that never fully opened up.
The Texas Derby delivered intensity and physical play throughout, but neither team could find the decisive breakthrough in the second half.
First Half: Dallas Strikes First
FC Dallas came out with early energy, pushing forward and applying pressure in the attacking third.
That pressure paid off with an opening goal that gave Dallas the early advantage and control of the match. The home side looked comfortable for stretches, maintaining possession and limiting Houston’s opportunities.
But the Dynamo gradually worked their way back into the game.
Houston Responds Before the Break
Houston found its equalizer before halftime, capitalizing on a key opportunity to level the score and shift momentum.
The goal came after a more composed stretch of play from the Dynamo, who began to find space and test Dallas’ defensive shape more consistently as the half progressed.
By halftime, the match was even — and wide open heading into the second half.
Second Half: Chances Without a Breakthrough
The second half saw both teams search for a winner, but clear chances were limited.
Dallas looked to regain control through possession, while Houston remained dangerous in transition. Despite a few promising sequences from both sides, neither team was able to convert in the final third.
Defensive organization and midfield battles defined much of the half, with each side preventing the other from gaining sustained momentum.
Closing Minutes: Points Shared
In the final stretch, both teams pushed cautiously for a late winner, but neither was willing to overcommit defensively.
The match closed without a breakthrough, leaving both sides to settle for a point in a competitive derby matchup.
